  • Westville was founded in 1966 and opened to the public in 1970 as a private, not-for-profit educational corporation, funded by residents of the Lumpkin area. It now has an annual operating budget of $700,000 and s support base from throught Georgia.
  • With conservative spending and prudent fiscal management, Westville has maintained a balanced budget for many years.
  • Nearly every artifact in the collection has been donated.
  • Responsible management practices have allowed Westville to develop a successful interpretive program, to amass an outstanding collection, to perform routine maintenance and conservation , and to build an endowment fund totaling more than $2,400,000.
  • Although proud of Westville's record of service, the Trustees of Westville Historic Handicrafts, Inc. which owns and operates the Village, now seek to make more history come alive for more people.
  • Additionally, they want to move forward with serveral building projects, some collection conservation initiatives, and certain personnel issues that have been sidestepped for years.
