In 1836 the Creek Wars tore Alabama and Georgia apart at the seams! The Creek Indians had been pushed across the Chattahoochee River and off of native lands into small parcels and lots in Alabama, their way of life changed beyond their own recognition. White settlers in Columbus and the surrounding areas needed space for homes, farms and businesses. The two sides clashed in bloody battles all over western Georgia.

Visit Historic Westville May 24th and 25th as we reenact two important battles of the 1836 Creek Wars that took place just miles away!

Visit with the Creek Indians in the historic Wells House that was built by members of the Uchee clan of the Creek Indians. Experience cultural activities such as storytelling, dancing, and handicrafts!

Hear first-hand accounts from re-enactors that tell WHY the Wars happened and how people on BOTH sides felt about it!

REENACTORS WELCOME! Click HERE for Reenactor event registration!

1850’s Style

A day camp for children ages 12-18

This series of workshops will teach an old skill using period tools and techniques. Each workshop will provide a foundation in a craft so the student can learn and appreciate the art of master craftsmen and products before technology and mass production.

Each participant will complete at least one project they can take home and show off.

Our workshops will be taught in our period buildings or on the grounds of Historic Westville. Our instructors will be in period costume, feel free to come dressed in 1850’s attire… or not.
