Spring Days Festival

April 26-28, 2012

Spring has sprung at Historic Westville and its a beautiful time of year! Come enjoy spring activities and fun from the 1850s! Learn how farmers in 1850 took care of their animals and how their animals took care of them.

Military admission FREE on April 28th with ID!

Creek Indian Wars of 1836

May 26-27, 2012

The Creeks have attacked! Creek and Seminole Indians from all over the Southeast will be at Westville this weekend! See battle reenactments and authentic Indian encampments. Learn about Creek culture in Georgia. But be careful! The Natives do take prisoners!

Fall Harvest Days

October 11-13 & 18-20, 2012
Hours: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Travel back in time over 160 years to enjoy the cooler weather of Autumn! You can help with harvest chores, play games and enjoy good old fashioned country cooking while we gin cotton, cook sugar cane syrup and make candles and soap!

Some activities we've done during past Fall Harvest Days:

• A day at school in the 1850s
• 19th century games like stilts, hoops and graces, sack races, and hoop races

Surrender of Secession: Westville, 1865

After the Civil War: The Years of Reconstruction

October 26-27, 2012
Hours: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

You won't want to miss this exciting immersion event as Federal soldiers occupy Westville during the Reconstruction of the South at the end of the Civil War.

Visit with members of the Federal occupation force.

help the Freedmen's Bureau as they assist freed slaves to adjust to a new way of life.

Welcome home returning veterans,

sneer at the carpetbaggers who have come to take advantage of situation the South has found itself in."

Over 200 reenactors expected!!!!

Deck the Halls!

December 3, 2012
Hours: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Westville gets all dressed up for the Holidays! Learn how Yule-tide decorations were made and help make Westville look beautiful!

Help create ivy wreaths, cedar and pine swags, fruit panels, magnolia and cedar table centerpieces, fireplace mantel decorations, and see how a "REAL" 19th century German Christmas tree would be decorated.

Take home a workshop booklet so you can reproduce these natural beauties at home!

You will want to bring along work gloves and small garden shears if you have them!

There is NO CHARGE for this event, but please be prepared to work!
We have to decorate the whole village and make it beautiful for the holidays!

NOTICE: Please leave small children at home - we will be working with wire and other sharp items and don't want anyone to be hurt!

Christmas at Westville

You don't have to go "over the river and through the woods" to have a good old fashioned Christmas, just join us for Christmas at Westville!

Enjoy a magical and fun beginning to the Christmas season with beautiful displays of greenery and candles that remind you of the sparkle and warmth of an early Victorian Christmas. All our decorations and activities reflect the English, Scottish, and German heritage of the people who once lived in the homes at Westville.

As you visit throughout the village, "Make and Take" 19th century Christmas crafts and decorations, and collect pages for your own "Victorian Christmas at Westville" booklet. And don't forget to visit with Father Christmas in his Southern Office!

As the sun begins to set on a beautiful Christmas evening, join the beautiful "Lighting of the Lanterns" procession through the village with Father Christmas. End your evening at the Courthouse with beautiful Christmas carols in the candlelight.
