We Preparation in the classroom before your visit to Westville is very important. Westville provides several excellent teaching aids for your use. With your reservation, you can request these at a reduced price which covers only the cost of printing and postage.

  1. "SEARCHING THROUGH WESTVILLE" invites students to compare ways of life in 1850 to those of today, such as: building foundations, furniture design, how to tell hand-planed from sawn boards in houses, brief how-to's on various traditional crafts, why window panes at Westville have ripples and bubbles, cooking, and much more.
  2. WESTVILLE'S "CURRICULUM GUIDE" contains a wealth of background information on social customs, architecture, religion, travel, Indians, and agriculture of the 1850 period.
  3. WESTVILLE'S SLIDE PROGRAM & TEACHING KIT (for use with PLAN C) was prepared to teach students about architecture, past and present. Besides the slide program, the kit includes pre-visit activities while at Westville, and post-visit activities.
